help? hehe. i'm going to ireland today for 10 days and i'm tired of blowing my eardrums just to hear songs on my ipod. thanks

Heh, I just returned from Ireland four days ago. Just for a better understanding: those original iPod earbuds are too big for you?

they actually aren't too bad in my ears but perhaps slightly oversized, yes. and it's not so much the size as they isolate no sound and make me have to crank my iPod 100% just to hear anything to override the altititude noise

Closed headphones won't provide enough isolation for a plane. You should go with in ear headphones such as are made by etymotic and shure.

I use Shure E2Cs. ~£50 online. The cheapest of their in-ear line, but very good.

If you got your iPod in Europe don't forget to 'patch' it - volume limitation was introduced by Apple to confirm with the laws in France. (http://gopod.free-go.net/ if you're running XP; http://volumebooster.tangerine-soft.de/ if MacOS)
