UDF Drivers for Windows XP for Use with DVD-RAM

Hello!

Does anyone know if there are any UDF drivers for Windows XP available for use with DVD-RAM? I heard about some Panasonic drivers, but as far as I can see, they are only available for some Panasonic and LG units and I need them to work with a NEC ND-4551A. I know that Windows XP supports formatting of DVD-RAM media using FAT32, but that isn't really the best thing to use on DVD-RAM. Also, InCD is very unstable on my system - even the latest version 5 that comes with Nero 7.

Regards,
Sebastian

You need to "format" the discs in UDF? I've seen in software where one can write with UDF enabled. Perhaps they're not the same thing.

There is an UDF driver bundled with nero. As far as I can remember, it supports up to UDF 2.x.

The driver I linked to above seems to work fine with my NEC ND-4551A. However, only UDF 1.5 and 2.0 is supported - too bad they didn't implement UDF 2.01.

Just a side note: Linux has UDF 2.01 read/write support, on any DVD-RAM drive and any media - that includes the older DVD-RAM media which were "restricted" to UDF 1.5 by Windows Panasonic tools...

In addition, for each disc you can choose the size of the "Supplementary Spare Area" which handles media defects in the drive's firmware.  Very useful for trading a bit of space for more security

Heck, I can even format USB flash drives in UDF format -- and they can be used (read-only) in windows afterwards

The most funny thing (although it's not related to UDF) is to take a 512MB USB key, and create a 1 MB and a 511 MB partitions.  Then bootup Windows, and watch how Windows only sees 1 MB and cannot see/repartition the remaining space at all...
