IMHO words like that should always use 's'. Z looks bastardised and, uh, american. Like IE's spelling of Favourites. Thats the main reason I use firefox (which offers an en-GB variant)

Oh, there are so many examples of 's' and 'z' being valid, like realise/realize, quantise/quantize, etc.

They're only both valid in some countries, and of course in an international context though...

Yeah, and parts of it had me laughing. Thank's for that link! Now I know why the British auto shows that are shown here in the U.S. say Zed and some other things when describing some automobiles.

Referring to the letter as Zed is fine, until you try singing the "A, B, C" song:

A, B, C, D, E, F, G
H, I, J, K, L-M-N-O-P
Q, R, S
T, U, V
W, X, Y and Zed   

It's quite strange to think of Americans referring to a Sinclair "Zee X 81".  Not that you guys probably had the joy of "the dead flesh keyboard" anyway...

Well the only British stuff I've experienced are from what I already stated the auto shows on t.v., and of course the comedy shows which in my opinion nobody beats the British when it comes to comedy. From watching 'Neil and the Young Ones', I think that was the name of the show they coined a fraise that I used religiously when in school (many many years ago) which was "Smeg Head", none of the students knew what the hell I was talking about.
