How to untangle headphone cords

Hello.

Sorry if this is a little silly, but I didn't know where else to ask.

Does anyone know how to untangle headphone cords?

I have a pair of Sennheiser 210 which have a Y connection so each headphone has its own cable. Now, one of them is tangled and forms a loop that makes the cord... hmm, "shorter", so it gets caught in my chin.

The cables cannot be detached from the headphones (obviously)
So, does anyone have a piece of advice?

Thank you.

I usually wedge the tip of a mechanical pencil into the loops and wiggle it back and forth to loosen them enough that I can get the knot out with my fingers.
