Nero HE-AAC v2, is it better then AACPlus v2?

I assume that new Nero 7 Premium edition include brand new Nero HE-AAC v2 audio codec,am I right. Is v2 of HE-AAC better then Coding technologies AACPlus v1 and v2 AAC, or not.

The new Nero HE-AACv2 encoder will be in the web release.

Nero Digital and aacPlusv2 are both implementations of the same HE-AACv2 standard.

Since the new Nero encoder is not public yet, nobody will be able to answer your question.

You can be more than sure that the two encoders will be thoroughly compared
once the new Nero encoder becomes widely available.

No need for anyone to promise it.

the nero homepage states, that nero 7 will be available for online purchase on october the 26th. i assume it will then be possible to download the web release.

You do not have the HE-AACv2 encoder. You can have the HE-AACv1 encoder though, that one has been available for a while.

All Nero products are fully compatible with the MPEG standards.

Yes it is, no doubt now. Garf was right about very listenable quality @ 32 and 48 kbps

Have you done a blind listening test comparing it to Winamp 5.1 encoder?

No I haven't, ain't got time at the moment.. But I know how my favourite songs sounded before with Winamp AAC encoder and now, they sound different with Nero encoder..they sound definitely better at the same bitrate. I am 99% sure about that

Same for me.  Difference between all HE-AAC2 isn´t so big. but Nero is best for me.  Top bitrate for PS is aprox 51 kbit/s.

Well, let's not get into a massive TOS8 violation spree here.

But it would of course be appreciated if someone would set up a proper listening test [1], so we can settle the matter.

[1] Proper meaning: performed by more than 1 person.

Seems like there are wrong channel mapping in 5.1 encoding using BeSweet! (There are significant audio fluctuations). Can anybody check it too?

There are 3 variants:
  • Wait until Nero fix the problem
  • OR Ask DSPGuru to change channel order for bsn
  • OR Write tiny wrapper around original bsn.dll and change channel mapping in it (i can write such wrapper for -dimzon switch but i need information which channel mapping reqied for Nero7)

I got my long-awaited brand new Nero 7.0.1.2.Now I got some questions:

1)For Dimzon:what's the name of the utility you're using (file info) and where I can download it?
2)Converting to aac 48 kb/s I don't see any option for setting parametric stereo.Where is it?
3)Getting the info file (using winamp) about a aac track converted by nero,the profile is always LC instead of HE (effectivly used).Why?

It's used automagically when it's beneficial.

Because Winamp is buggy.

Basically everything was improved. In terms of features Parametric Stereo is new.

Parametric Stereo is not defined for more than 2 channels. There is work in progress at MPEG to define a multichannel version (Spatial Audio). When that is finished, we will support it.

Can newest Nero AAC encoder work from some other program, etc. dBpowerAMP Music Converter, or freeware Mediacoder 0.32

dBpowerAMP Music Converter already support older version of Nero AAC encoder from year 2004.

Please explain? When the newest Nero AAC encoder will be adapted with newest dBpowerAMP Music Converter 11.5, on their site there is no information about that.
