M-audio revolution drivers

I recently upgraded to the M-audio revolution 7.1 sound card, when trying to install the latest drivers on the M-audio website get an error message after restart that "revo.sys is missing please insert disc" I followed the procedure described in the website.

1-remove old drivers
2-uninstall pci card
3-install new drivers revo 1028.exe and shut down when prompted
4-install card and start the pc

After windows find the new hardware and begins to install the files I get the error message

Any ideas???

I currently have installed an older driver that came with the card install CD and that one is working OK
The current driver I'm using is version 1.0.0.27 / driver 5.10.00.0032

Thanks in advance.

I used to have that card.  When I performed updates I never removed the card (winxp).  here is how I would update:

1.  download new driver and save to desktop.

2.  uninstall old driver (from windows control panel).

3.  reboot computer and select cancel for automatic install new device.

4.  I have regedit so I would run that and delte any entries from m-audio.

5. check windows ---> system32 ------> drivers.  Manually delete any M-audio
  drivers.

6.  Reboot again.

7. When Automatic install appears (for the 2nd time now), select cancel

8. Run driver download.  Select to use driver when windows gives a warning.

9. After install restart again, even if setup finishes without asking for reboot.

10. If windows says new device detected again, this time select yes for auto install, and use the driver regardless of the warning.

Disabling onboard sound is a good idea, but probably not the cause of your problem.  Also, the card should not share an IRQ.

Try 1026 first, if it works 1028 should work also. I notice 1028's installation seems a little bit wierd but still works fine on my system.

Or try to move the card to another slot, don't plug the card to PCI slot next to AGP, may cause IRQ sharing problem.

Thanks John, I'll give that a try and post back my results, I got a hold of a copy of the 1.0.2.6 drivers let's see how it goes.

It didn't work, I guess I'll have to stick to the old driver, I have no problems with it, just wanted to update, for some reason my system doesn't like the exe package.

Thanks to all

You should e-mail customer support at m-audio.

I haven't had much luck with them, but I was asking about interfacing other hardware with different cards.  Anyway, they may be able to help you, I checked the knowldgebase and did not find anything about your problem.

I e-mailed M-AUDIO tech support explaining the problem, and requesting, if possible, a CD with the files for the latest drivers. Let's see what happens.

Thanks for all the help.

I took this information from the revolution setup log, I thought it was interesting how the setup is skipping the files to be copied, therefore the install fails.

Are you sure this doesn't have to with the unverified license (or whatever it's called)?  If I'm just covering old ground ignore me.

You should also go into those folders and delete all entries.  Than try another install.  Actually, delete any M audio or Revo files.  Just make sure you don't remove anything than may not be specific to the soundcard, no need to ruin anything else.

No, when the license warning comes up I click "continue anyway" I already did what was suggested before cleaned up the registry entries, and deleted all files related to M-audio, revo, and revolution. Restarted and then proceeded to install the revo_1028_sf.exe (also tried the 1026 same thing) then after install is complete and I restart new hardware found begins but install stall because it can find the above skipped files.
When I install from the CD I don't have any problems and it works fine, so I know is not an irq problem or anything like that.

Thanks Jim for your help

Yeah, tech support answered me but pretty much told me to try what you guys suggested earlier in the topic, with no luck, I'm just going to stick to the old drivers they sound good, anyway I have been looking at the audiotrak prodigy LT 7.1, I probably upgrade later since I just put this M-AUDIO in my PC.

Thanks to all for the great help
