FYI: Creative MuVo V200 plays MP2 too

I just did the small test I've been planning to do. I have downloaded a small MP2 audio file, which is confirmed by the Foobar to be really MP2 and not a renamed MP3 and it seems to be 128 kbps CBR. I suppose most of you know, but in case someone doesn't - MP2 stands for MPEG layer 2 and it is being used in Europe on digital radio (DAB and DVB radio).

I made a copy of the file and renamed it .mp3. Then I tried both files on my V200. It plays the one renamed as .mp3 but not the original named .mp2.

Don't have any. If you have a small (< 10 MB, I'm on broadband) sample file and have a fast net connection, email it to er.usenet@gmail.com and I'll be glad to test it.

OK, waiting for it to materialize. Gmail is sometimes a bit on the slow side.

OK, guys. I got two different MPC test files: testfile.mpc and Furious.mpc. Unfortunately my V200 recognizes neither even after renaming to .mp3.

I think I read that a HW decoder needs an FPU unit for mpc decoding. Oh well we can dream..

Thanks
