new MP3Coder for Win3x and Win9x

Hi y'all,

I'd like to announce the new version 2.26 of MP3Coder, a freeware encoder "suite" for Win3x and Win9x which works as a GUI for several DOS and Win3x tools like LAME16 v3.89, BladeEnc v0.94.1, MPXPlay v1.46, WinPlay3 v2.3beta5, DAC v1.0 and last but not least AudioCV v1.12 for encoding OGG files. It can also rip audio CDs and record or play WAV, MP3 and OGG files either with its own tools or via external ones (also those for Win9x) that can be easily integrated into its menues, e.g. a CD burning application or an ID3-tag editor. You can download it from the website of the author Martin van der Veer (english version with help file is available, also switchable to french menues):

MP3Coder v2.28 (the GUI) has been refreshed with the new versions of Mpxplay (audio player for DOS, v1.47.2) and AudioCV (Ogg encoder for DOS, v1.20). Those two programs have been largely speeded up by their developer Attila Padar by optimizing the ASM routines. Mpxplay can now play 128 kbps stereo libVorbis 1.0 files on a 486/100 MHz without stuttering or single hickups when you disable at least the spectrum analyzer by pressing "a" on the keyboard or using the related command line or mpxplay.ini options.

Like before, the main purpose of MP3Coder is to enable Win3x users to rip, encode and play MP3 and Ogg Vorbis files on their old machines. But it also runs under Win9x and can then be updated e.g. with a newer 32-bit version of LAME by simply copying LAME.EXE to its main directory and renaming it to LAME16.EXE. Your favorite 32-bit tagger or any other Win9x program can also be integrated into the menues of MP3Coder, if you like the GUI and don't want to start several single applications from the desktop.
