Running foobar2000 from a portable drive

I'd like to put foobar2000 along with my music, on a portable disk. Then I can take it with me to any PC I have access to. In order to do that, I'd start by copying my current installation from my hard disk, to the portable disk.

Will a copied directory like that work, or does the installer do anything else that is needed to run the program?

Also, can I use the database with a portable disk? I see an issue here because the disk may not always get the same drive letter. Can the database be persuaded to store relative filenames (say, relative to the directory that foobar2000 is running from, or the database file is located in)? Alternatively (not as nice, but acceptable) can a "global edit" be done on the database, replacing the drive letter (say, changing F: to G:)? I could do that as a one-off when I plugged the drive in if the letter changed.

Thanks,
Paul.

I've backed up my fb2k folder and then copied it back into place after a format.  No problems at all, except the associations, which was due to the reinstall.

you should check every absolute path u've entered in each plugin (like toaster, lirycsDB etc). Btw the unit letter will change for each pc u'll plug your portable drive into, so your foobar could be messed up... or at least few plugins would.
