Nowadays what is the most respectyed way to rip CDs to FLAC?

It used to be EAC, is that still the case? I have EAC on my PC and recently started ripping my CD collection again. I cannot get log files to save in the folder though and it's not converting to FLAC. Also would be good if it added ID3 tags but the options are confusing for that.

CUERipper by CUETools (for whole CD to 1-FLAC-file particularry), IMHO.
Hybrid Multimedia Production Suite will be a platform-indipendent open source suite for advanced audio/video contents production.

WindowsOS considerations: I ripped my entire collection with dBpoweramp (paid "reference" version), but you cannot do much wrong about neither that nor EAC nor CUERIpper except:
* If you want EAC style logs, you cannot use dBpoweramp. But I don't know if you need them if you have the AccurateRip ID that dBpoweramp writes.
* For those pesky pre-emphasis CDs that may or may not flag it properly (properly means both in the TOC and in subcode, but that is not a given in practice), then CUERipper does both, but IIRC the two others don't.
* If you want proper index marks in your cuesheets ... I am not sure. Anyone?

Also, IIRC: CUERipper is not that hard to script by command-line, if that is a concern.

@Feilakas knows Redumper, which rips not only the audio but also subcode. I have no experience with that, but my hunch is that you don't need it if the disc verifies AccurateRip and the others agree it doesn't have pre-emphasis.

EAC really does take hours to rip a CD.

Use "Burst" mode: F10 > Extraction Method. If any tracks fail AccurateRip, rip them again using "Test & Copy". If they match, you're good.

CUERipper unfortunately doesn’t tell you if the TOC and program area flags disagree. IIRC it only reports the program area flag, which if you’re only reporting one is definitely the correct one, but I want to know about mismatches too.

CUERipper is fine for index points but EAC (or at least the ancient version I use) needs to be explicitly configured for “accurate” index point extraction.

I’ve been playing with redumper and its ability to get complete TOC and program-area subcode information in one pass is fantastic, but its limitations around metadata retrieval, etc. make it more of an analysis tool than a day-to-day ripper. Not saying I haven’t been tempted, though!

I've begun using cyanrip lately. It has all the features that can be expected and is cross-platform too but no GUI, which suits me on Linux.

Lazlo Nibble what version of EAC are you using?
I'm currently using the latest version of EAC 1.8, it has everything I need.
CUERipper is not yet available for screen readers. But I was too lazy to make an issue on github for now.
