A single FLAC file that contains tracks of an album

Is there a way to convert a single flac file into the separate audio tracks?

Does it have a cue file? If so foobar2000 will convert to single tracks.

I'm trying to get the cue files, not having much luck.

When you drop the file on foobar2000, does it list tracks in the playlist? Some single FLAC have cue file information built in.

Otherwise, you need to find a CUE file or load the file into Audacity and split it manually.

Any audio editor can do it.   And since FLAC is lossless you won't get any quality loss if you export/render to FLAC or WAV.  Audacity is FREE.

You can make your own cue sheet with Windows Notepad or other text editor but you probably don't need one.

You can use Mp3Tag to edit or add metadata.   (It works with all of the popular formats, not just MP3.)    If there is embedded artwork Audacity won't copy it over to the new files but Mp3Tag can do it.

DVDdoug already knows this, but he forgot to mention it.

Most audio editors will convert everything to 32-bit float internally and they will apply dithering for export (16/24-bit).
So technically it is not lossless. You can disable dithering in Audacity. I don't use other programs so I can't talk about them.

I'm always thinking, how much shall we do to help out pyr8d downloads ... but anyway.
Some FLAC files have the cuesheets embedded, rather than separate files. CUETools and foobar2000 will read those from file.
CUETools can even help if there is an ExactAudioCopy style log file in the same directory.

As goes the cuesheet heaven website: it is down.

If it's a commercial CD and you know the release you should be able to generate a CUE sheet from its TOC in MusicBrainz.

The flip side is helping those who wrongly overextended copyrights and decimated the public domain.

If you do not have a cue file I would simply delete this and create (or obtain) an alternate, correctly ripped copy of the content

I downloaded the the album FLAC file and the cue file.
I loaded the FLAC and cue files and foobar2000 shows the Track list now.
I tried everything I could find to copy, move, convert the tracks to a new directory and nothing works.
The error messages say Unable to open source file: Object not found   Conversion failed: Object not found.
Could anyone please tell me how to get the separate tracks converted and copied to a directory with foobar2000?

CueTools can verify based on the cue and encode as separate files to a new directory.

Less significant to this task, but still important overall, the rip of the album should also include a .log file in addition to the .cue

Are you saying I need the log file too?

If you open the .cue file in a text editor (Notepad - but "everyone" needs Notepad++, so go ahead get it) you will likely see a filename that disagrees with the one you have. Fix it.

CUETools can usually find it without that manual operation.

Are you saying I need the log file too?
No. But CUETools can sometimes do with .flac + .log even if the .cue is lost.

I opened the cue file in Notepad and changed the FLAC file name.
I opened the cue file in foobar2000 and was able to convert and copy the track files.
Thanks everyone for the help.
