Strange unceasing crash occurring constantly within last few days.

I have been experiencing a constant crash that happens a few minutes within opening foobar. It does not appear to have a specific trigger as it happens seemingly at random (i.e. selecting artist in library viewer, in the middle of song playback, instantly as soon as foobar loads) every crash produces the same error in the log. I'm not an expert dealing with this stuff was just wondering if someone can help me fix this as it's rendered foobar pretty much unusable for me (happens every single time I open it now.)

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've done every step you've listed. Unfortunately am still receiving the crash. Tried installing a new portable instance of foobar with a different theme to maybe see if that would resolve the issue. Same error code. Including the latest crash log:

Re: Strange unceasing crash occurring constantly within last few days.

Well the crash is Spider Monkey Panel so removing that would at least stop that happening.

As for the cause.... not got a clue.

Latest crash on the former instance of foobar now produces a new error code. Posting newest log:

Why does it give a different crash report than the original foobar2000?
Just like marc2k3, all I can say is to delete "Spider Monkey Panel".

Where is F: Drive?

Report 15 is from the standard installation that I've used for years. Crashes only started happening recently, I wanna say about 2 days ago. Happens any time I open it, ranging from as soon as the app starts or a few minutes into listening to tracks or maneuvering the library. Haven't got a clue as to what's causing it to crash.

Report 07 is from a portable instance I've just installed tonight to try and troubleshoot if the theme on the original installation was the problem. Said portable instance still crashes just as frequently producing the same error code. All components and fonts are installed and up to date on new instance.

Updated all the components Ken had instructed me to, as well as installing the fonts, deleting sacd and updating components. It now still crashes but produced a different error code on the most recent crash log.

F is an external hard drive that I've installed the portable instance onto, and the drive also contains my music library.

Restarted PC to see maybe that would fix anything. On the new portable instance, foobar runs for a few minutes but then I get this crash.

Are all "Media Libraries" the same (F: )?
Portable HDD drives are often not recognized.
Please unplug and plug in the USB cable.

Yes, both installations have the media library pathed to the same folder on F: Will try unplugging the USB now

Crashing is still happening.

When you start foobar and try to play a track from the Media Library it crashes?
What happens if I drag and drop a track outside of the Media Library or a track outside of the F: drive into the Playlist View and try to play it?

Try it with a clean (no components) portable installation.
F: Drive playback, F: Non-drive playback

To take an extreme example, it may be better to give up on portable HDDs and consider other storage options.
Can you upgrade to an m.2 SSD in your environment?

It will play just fine and dragging a file from outside the drive creates a playlist and is able to play just fine as it normally should. The problem is that it seems like the crash is inevitable as foobar seemingly runs less than a minute each time I open it before crashing.

It's possible, wallet won't be happy but as far as music players go I find foobar irreplaceable. Will order an m.2 off amazon and see if that solves anything.

No crashing happening on a clean portable instance with no custom components or themes installed. Does seem that spidermonkey seems to be the culprit which sucks..... I've used the georgia theme for years and it has never given me problems until now. Idk if the theme is having trouble indexing my massive library but hoping an m.2 relocation will maybe solve the issue.

Uhm you are mixing things here. First, one thing is foobar2000 crashing, another thing is a SMP/JSP panel "crash" which just points to a script error. You are having both, but they are not the same. (a panel crash may produce a foobar crash in specific cases though)

Second, one of your screenshots point to GeorgiaReborn theme, which is in constant development (and obviously may have bugs). But that's a script. And you should report errors at its thread.

Third, when people ask you to create a new clean portable install, adding the theme is not a clean portable install.

Changing a drive type won't fix any crashing. Consider for a moment if the advice you read makes sense.
Have you checked how much memory your foobar2000 process uses before it crashes? Spider Monkey can be a hog and it's known to be crashy, but I don't think it should crash that often without a reason. Running out of memory would be a valid reason to crash, though not sure if that STATUS_BREAKPOINT error could be caused by that.

Either way unless Spider Monkey Panel is fixed, the only way to prevent it from crashing the player is to stop using it.

This problem exists even before the Spider Monkey Panel, and when foobar starts up, the Media Library cannot be loaded, and it takes a long time. If your environment allows for additional built-in storage, I think the quickest solution would be to add it and then rebuild the Media Library.

If you read the last post of mine I stated I made a third instance with no theme installed. Crashing had ceased which pointed to spider monkey panel being the culprit. The instance that has a clean install (no script/custom addons) still has not crashed since installing it last night.

Came across this issue thread while browsing the Georgia Reborn git page:

https://github.com/TT-ReBORN/Georgia-ReBORN/issues/102

I'm not 100% sure but I think this may be the culprit. The theme is struggling to read my massive music library because of the memory usage limit restricted by SMP's 32bit architecture. Might have to wait for SMP's developer to release a 64bit version.

Have you read my post? xd

Report your errors at the Georgia thread and don't mix foobar crashes with panel crashes. Also report your memory usage and what "massive" means. TT (Georgia dev) will not fix your problems otherwise.

And this:
https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php/topic,126830.msg1052746.html#msg1052746
Is a panel crash which should be reported and fixed.

I came here because I didn't know WHAT specifically was crashing and the instance that was having the crash you referenced is having BOTH script and foobar crashes. If foobar wasn't crashing then it wouldn't produce a crash log, correct? Well it did. Is this not a foobar crash? Produced by the same instance that had that panel crash on startup. I monitored the memory usage via task manager while playing a song and it went up to 158MB before it crashed. As for library size; it's over 2TB.

Re: Strange unceasing crash occurring constantly within last few days.

That's not a massive library at all. Pretty small.

And again, you have panel crashes which should be reported on the Georgia thread... you are not going to get something fixed here when you are using a complete theme which obviously requires every component installed. So again, report at the Georgia thread (since it probably is an Art/file access thing).

Followed your instructions. Foobar had no crashes while rebuilding the library. Seems like progress to me! Has been running for the last 2 hours crash-free while rebuilding, will continue to monitor throughout the day while playing tracks.
