You are not replying to my questions. Zero clue about what you are talking about and what you did (?) and still it just seems a win11 thing which should be either be fixed by Windows or disabled by the user if it's a security check.

I vaguely remember that things downloaded from the net required the user to uncheck something at their properties before using them. That may be. Or at least that happens on win 10 sometimes.

Also people should be installing packages by theirselves using the steps above from my reply if they have problems.

Not sure what you want me to check. I am not using win11 and will not for a few years since its full of problems yet.

I don't know how to answer that.
If there's no way to confirm it, there's nothing I can do

I was trying to solve this problem in a simpler way.

I'm an idiot so just say it's all my fault and be done with it.

This post from the biography thread is pointing straight at the problem

Code: [Select]
Failed to open archive: `Biography-v1.4.2.mod.1.zip`
mz_zip_reader_init_file failed with error 0x11: file open failed

mz_zip_reader_init_file is part of library named miniz used for working with compressed archives. I've heard of it but never worked with it so I have no idea what the problem is. If it works fine on SMP then someone will have to report it to the JSplitter dev because I'm not.

No idea if it works on SMP or it's just a JSplitter thing. Right now only AirKen has reported problems with that on windows 11. No one else has reported any other problem yet about packages.

That's said, all my packages are created with 7z manually by me (not using the package manager). That's why I offered you, AirKen, to test other zip files created by me (in case there is some kind of incompatibility between miniz and 7z zip files). The language barrier is a problem here though.

I will reply later with multiple package zip files created by the manager and 7z just to test that possibility.

There is no problem with Spider Monkey Panel 32bit. It seems to be a problem with JSplitter (After installing Windows 11 23H2 (KB5044285) or 24H2).

If the package name does not exist in the script package manager, it cannot be loaded.
Therefore, it is easy to use the Package folder that you loaded into JSplitter before Update.

Is it something like, "Since I haven't received a reply (answer) for a while, I'm going to copy it here and urge you to reply"?
Do you really expect the developers to respond promptly?
You can tell by looking at this. @regor is busy.

I realize there is still a learning environment regarding this new component, but I would like to install it for a single purpose, which is to add the WilB Biography Panel for viewing the Allmusic artist picture/bio.  I have no experience with SMP in the past.

My environment is Foobar v2.24 64-bit, with JSP3 3.80 installed and in use (lastfm bio +history, etc.).  I have downloaded the files "foo_uie_jsplitter-3.6.1.10.fb2k-component" and "Biography-v1.4.2.mod.1.zip" but not attempted to install either yet.

Can some kind person post a list of steps I need to follow to add an active SMP panel via foo_uie_jsplitter, showing the allmusic pic/bio using the WilB Biography component?  No screenshots required, just a simple text description would be much appreciated--thanks to anyone who can help!

@sveakul

Are you using the Default UI?
For example, create a new Panel in TAB.
In edit mode, right click > Add New UI Element...
Select Containers > JSplitter. This is the basics. This JSplitter can be a Spider Monkey Panel, and you can add other Panels to it.
To add a panel, right-click > Add panel... If you select JSplitter, it will act as a Spider Monkey Panel.

And the Spider Monkey Panel. Select JSplitter and turn off edit mode. Right-click > Configure panel...
The JSplitter Configuration screen will appear.
On this screen, select a panel (Samples, Package).

If you check Sample, you will be able to view the sample, so select it.
If you check the Package box, the Script package manager will be displayed.
Click "Import" and open the Script Package (Biography-vversion1.4.2.mod.1.zip).
Click OK to proceed.Click the screen to go to Biography.
Adjust the layout, etc.
Clicking on the small Last.fm logo will change the site.

Right-click > Options to display the Advanced Settings screen.

This may be hard to understand. Sorry.

@Air KEN :  Yes I am using DUI.

Thanks to your help, I was actually able to get the WilB biography panel from regor loaded after installing a jsplitter panel!  Man who would have thought we could have access to SMP scripts loadable in a 64-bit Foobar, while having JSP3 still fully available.

I was disappointed to see that images are not available from allmusic, just lastfm, but the additional bio/review info from there and wikipedia is great.  I have to say though that the quantity of installed application files, options etc. needed to run this whole setup is intimidating compared to the slick, easy JSP3 "last.fm bio + images" and other samples from marc2k3 I'm used to.  I imagine the payoff is in learning what other SMP scripts out there I would find valuable, and now being able to use them.

Anyhow while I may end up just sticking with JSP3 I appreciated your assistance in finally being able to try this beast!

Did not see that one. So following your replies, it seems JSsplitter at least has a problem with zip files on win 11. Does anyone has the same problem on win 10?
Does it happen with packages not created by me? (I use 7zip, which may be a problem).

Images work fine for some people, others seem to have problem. If you find problems with specific artists, please report.

I would say that is a bit biased. JSP3 has samples, the same SMP has samples. You can just stick to the samples by SMP too, which is easier. Another thing is installing an external script, in fact SMP is "easier" with packages than JSP3 ;) You can not compare installing a sample vs an external script.

I agree JSP3 is easier for people who want to do minimum steps, just install, add panel and done. But you will not find the same scripts in SMP and JSP. JSplitter is pretty advanced for themes allowing to add multiple sub-panels.

Also the thing is JSP scripts have mainly been done by just one person (something which has only changed during the time SMP had no 64 bits version), while SMP specifically avoided adding samples from people (except marc JSP/WSH samples conversion) and instead just tried to offer the engine and let others do the scripts.

Great right?! and no mem leaks and clean crashes if any.

You are correct that Wilb's bio only downloads artist images from 1 source: lastfm.
For my uses, having 3 info sources (and the best customization/UX of any bio panel) offsets that restriction.

compared to the slick, easy JSP3 "last.fm bio + images" and other samples from marc2k3 I'm used to.

If you right click the Jsplitter panel and select configure panel>script tab>sample button
you will find a drop-down list of all of the JSP scripts you refer to. Based on my last experiences with JSP, this drop down is more or as easy as selecting sample in JSP?

Currently that list is a bit outdated as Marc tends to keep a cutthroat release/revision schedule, however Jsplitter's original mission was to keep up with the latest SMP/JSP versions, so I imagine if you are patient, that list will also be updated in the future.

Alternately, they both run cleanly in x64, so other than extra RAM overhead, one could use them both.

I would strongly recommend that people do not use the samples bundled with SMP/JSplitter. I'm not saying this because I want people to use JSP3. It's just that there are some very serious issues that are never going to be resolved.

Anything that fetched online info will be borked. Allmusic had website changes which broke lookups. Then my Last.fm API key got blocked breaking bio/similar artists/charts etc. SMP scripts shared the same one as my JSP scripts.

Then JSPlaylist/smooth browser/smooth browser etc are absolutely riddled with bugs and are grossly sub optimal for the changes in fb2k v2.

SMP/JSplitter absolutely should be used by people wanting to use regor's/Wilb/other scripts or want to write their own modern JS. But please don't use the included ones.  :))

That sounded a bit fatalistic xd they have been used for years with no complains even if we agree the latest iterations by yours have fixes or are better. Anything except the web based scripts work fine and Music brainz one also works fine.

All last.fm samples work fine as long as you change the api key and the AllMusic script just requires a method change the same than Biography to work fine.

Also saying the will never get resolved is not necessarily true. Anyone can update the samples.  ::) There was no reason before because the web ones worked fine on previous updates.  But that has changed now and I can update them in a few minutes and provide them to JSplitter dev to have working samples.

EDIT: Anyway people should be using JSP3 samples if possible since they are better there.

Regor, could you point as to where the last.fm api key is stored, and describe the "method change" needed for the AllMusic script to display images?  I'd love to get this all working.  Thanks!

Allmusic has never displayed images. It's plain text identical to the JSP3 version. :/

And guess what last.fm looks like with a working API key?

Similarity to other scripts might be because of the author.

Not understanding your reply xd. I said that as long as a single method for download is changed (for allmusic) and an api key is provided, they work the same than before. We already know the samples are yours and they are updated on JSP3 (?)

My point is samples are not totally broken as said, only 2 of them don't work. And the solution is pretty easy.
