Try disabling milkdrop2 and ProjectM.

Also be sure your processor doesn't fall into the range cited by oops' post about full DX12 compatibility--if it does, get the working Intel driver here:  https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000057520/graphics.html

Continue to post in the foo_vis_vumeter thread for support.

BTW, the Foobar section has its own Uploads thread: https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php/board,42.0.html

Thanks oops.  Yep, "using a single instance of VU Meter in DUI on x64 in light mode" is me also  ;D .  I'm at .91 currently with absolutely no issues;  will be interested to see what this was about before taking the leap.

I just updated my reply above, check about the processor version and the Intel DX12 driver.

This is a weird one. The settings structure does not get initialized at all! Not even the default values, just zeros all around. In fact, I'm surprised it got through as far as it did. The statement that finally threw the exception was the empty font face for the FPS text. The FPS font defaults to Calibri.

Side note: C++ exceptions throw with the E06D7363h error code when built with MSVC.

From running a working configuration, the initialization should be hit right after this message is printed in the console:
[204ms] foobar2000 v2.24.1 x64 [standard]

Something is weird in the setup or fundamentally broken. I don't know where.

First try to make sure the download is uncorrupted. Compare the hash of your download with the source I used to upload (e.g., in PowerShell):
(Get-FileHash -Path .\Downloads\foo_vis_vumeter-0.9.5.fb2k-component -Algorithm SHA256).Hash -eq 'bcf9cb6cd17c622e55d2c72eb43249b369ad8eb91868378061eda95bae13fb57'

Then try reinstalling the component.

Another option is to do a portable install and then just run with the VU Meter component (besides the default components). I tested this just now and it works as expected.

Lastly, if you feel brave (and I have no idea if this would even work), the GUID for this component is 0A8B8B7A-2E90-43BB-B395-EB41A124F7E2. You can go into the configuration store and clear the "ui.elem.GUID.*" and the "vumeter.*" entries.

For now this is what I could come up with. Sorry.

I'm going to try later.

Uninstall Foobar completely then reinstall with just vumeter without any other plugins. see how this goes. or do without vumeter it was nice while it worked but not absolutely necessary.

Try what oops suggests here:  https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php/topic,126733.msg1058134.html#msg1058134

Are you running the update from the auto-updater or doing an install from downloaded file?

I am going to attempt to remove  foo_vis_vumeter 0.9.5.0 from my system completely as it was updated over top of a previous release. 9.2 Then I will attempt to install it from scratch. Could some kind person tell me what keys in the registry that I need to find to remove it better still a .reg file to run to remove it.

Here is a update: foo_vis_vumeter 0.9.5.0  works great until I introduce SACD and DVDAudio plugins when it crashes. Have to do a reset to recreate crash reports and dumps

DVDA does not seem to be installed.
What happens when you install foo_input_sacd 1.5.17?

@marktherob2005

Do you use BitDefender? If so, remove it.
Also, since the Audio Device does not support DSD, please delete foo_input_sacd.
Since foo_out_asio+dsd is not installed, Native playback is not possible. There is no point.

Eh?

My audio device does not support DSD. Foo_input_sacd is perfectly capable to output PCM from DSD source.

Yes, of course I know. It's in the settings.
What is it?
This is a separate issue so let's leave it at that.

What are you on?

He has a stable running VU  0.9.5.0 on a fresh foobar. The moment he installs a slightly older foo_input_sacd it starts crashing.

And your advice is this:

What kind of help is that?

Don't use anything unnecessary.
Also, FxSound Audio Enhancer seems suspicious.
If you are using FxSound Audio Enhancer and are having trouble, you will often see the answer "Delete FxSound Audio Enhancer".

This was all working fine before 9.5 came along. I pay and need Bitfefender and also need SACD so you tell me to delete them. Sorry I can't I use them all the time.

This was working with all this software before I updated to 9.5 how will it help to delete all this software. If that's the case I will forgo using VUMETER
