Normalise/median/standardise

Hi,

I am very much a newbie to the normalisation thing, in Foobar2000 I would say a little lost.

If I may:

Q1 - when volume normalisation is applied, do the music tracks change file location?
Q2 - Is the normalisation done via applying tags, or some other way, and are these tags applied to the original file locale.
Q3 - Seen comments that say media monkey is better at this for a large number of files. I have about 1200 to 'normalise', recommendation?
Q4 -  the tagging process seems to take quite sometime...and I am to date unaware as to the success of the normalisation.
Is there a way to confirm the process &/or expediate the tagging?

I am on a windows 10 pc, 16GB ram, and have searched for a way to do this til recently.

Apols if this is '101' stuff, but a concise note on all the above (surely) would be a bonus to the forum.

regards
