How to MOVE fb2k to new PC AND UPGRADE from v1.2.9 to v2.0 ?

If you type my subject line into Google you get:
"Launch foobar2000 on your new computer so it will create the necessary folders, but don't bother running the setup wizard. On your old computer, navigate to . \Users\Your User\AppData\Roaming\foobar2000. Copy all of these files into the same location on your new computer."

I installed foobar2000 on my new PC and it now has v2.0.  However, my old PC has V1.2.9. 

The new Appdata folder for the new PC has  library-v2 and playlists-v2 folders. Also, the new PC's playlist-v2 folder had an index.txt file while my old PC's playlist folder has an index.dat file.

Do I need to upgrade foobar on my old PC before I will be able to replace the appdata folder on the new PC?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

What you are really asking is "how to upgrade FB2K v1.2.9 to v2.0" (which would be a much clearer title), Win10 has no bearing on this.

I'm sure somebody more knowledgable than me will advise, but in the mean time you could set up v2 as a portable installation and experiment with what happens when you import your existing configuration files.  You could also try v1.6.
It's your privilege to disagree, but that doesn't make you right and me wrong.

I uninstalled v2.0 and installed v.1.6 as suggested.  Then I deleted the existing AppData folder and replaced it with that from my 1.2.9 version.  That did not seem to work. :(  No playlists.  Missing plugins.  I thought about trying to add components to the 1.6 version but instead...

I overwrote both the foobar2000 program and AppData folders with my v1.2.9 versions and I seem to have a perfectly fine working v1.2.9 copy.

The question now is: is it worth trying to upgrade?

Installed or portable?  It's much easier to fiddle around with a portable install, the files are not spread all over the place.
