Got with many url's playback error: Unable to open item for playback (Length of object is unknown):

I was able to play the 4th from the bottom.

View > Internet Radio

I can open http://www.ndr.de/resources/metadaten/audio/aac/ndr1niedersachsen.m3u
by using 'Play by stream address:' and immediately the stream gets played - see screenshot.

Ok, missed your point.

While http://www.ndr.de/resources/metadaten/audio/aac/ndr1niedersachsen.m3u can be played via
  Known Stations > Play by stream address
it can NOT be played by
  Search > NDR 1 > Selection
of an entry/source which contains the exact same reference.

though both URLs get added to 'Known Stations', the evaluated one
http://icecast.ndr.de/ndr/ndr1niedersachsen/hannover/aac/low
(inside the .m3u) does not get played, instead the Playback error message gets thrown.

I noticed that sometimes (more often) in the internet-radio panel the "Powered by radio-browser" link does not work.
In the system browser, the site opens without problems.
What can be wrong ?
