Burn CD with Gapless Playback (Preferably without Components)

Hello Foobar2000 Folks,

I have been interested in using the CD Medium to listen to music as it's extremely dependable without distractions and annoyances. What I mean is that wireless listening experience can be disrupted and if the only way a CD player were to be disrupted is by either a defective player/cd, then I'm ok with that experience at least it's not a suprise.

A quick search had me looking into the Fb2k Component: Audio CD Writer by Peter (foo_burninate) v3.0.3 released on 2011-02-24. I immediately got it installed and noticed an option to "Burn gaplessly" from it's context menu from a selection of tracks (e.g. Convert -> Write Audio CD...). This is ideal, because what I am really hoping to achieve is to be able for my CD Player to playback the burned-cd without the loading time of changing tracks.

At this point I'm assuming gapless playback is only possible if the the tracks put to a single file by the component. So, my question is how would a single file metadata be read by the player?

I stated that I preferred to create a burned-cd using Foobar2k, but what ways could I have this happen where there is gapless playback with metadata for the cd-player to seek & change tracks with display of id3-tags on it's on-screen-display? What makes a CD proper for playback and does burning cd come with particular rulesets?

Side-note: Some car cd players can take a burned project that are copies of individual tracks and some cannot even read it. The cars with cd players that can read cd's that have been burned from copies-of-individual-tracks have loading time from each track change whether it's loading next/previous tracks. I've also noticed burning cd for car cd players only take up to 39-tracks max. Any burned cd with 40+ tracks will not be playable beginning on the 40th track. So, there's limitations to CD Listening of course.

Thank you.

You can think of a CD as something vaguely like a vinyl record, but using a laser instead of a needle. It spirals outwards from the center instead of inwards. Essentially it is one continuous audio stream, with metadata. As such there will always be a delay when seeking as the player has to physically move the laser into position. However there will be no such delay when playing the tracks in sequence.

I am guessing but "burn gaplessly" probably just means the burning software won't add silence in between tracks, and will simply burn whatever audio more or less "as is". For a while there is was common for CD burners to always add a two second "gap" of silence between tracks. In reality the "gap" is actually audio that gets played, it is just silent.

You don't need a single file. The only silence that will be burned will be whatever is present in the file(s).
