Columns ui elplaylist album art grid view help

Hello,

Was just wondering if anyone can help me to create an album art grid view using elplaylist or something similar to achieve the look in the following images. So to clarify just a grid of album art with album text below.

I have including my foobar setup with the nat king cole album as reference.

Thanks,
Joe.

ELplaylist can't make a grid like that. In Columns UI graphical browser can make that grid type view. I'm sure someone will comment to switch to DUI and use facets for grid view but if you want to stick to CUI then I'd say try graphical browser.

Ah ok , thanks for the input. I'm moving away from DUI to CUI so want to make this work. I had an old skin that had exactly what I'm trying to achieve, I think he used JS Panel or WSH Marc2003 but the same scripts don't seem to work in the current foobar build. I'll try graphical browser and get back to you.

Thanks,
Joe

EsPlaylist is another option.

Yes, EsPlaylist in Columns UI Dark Mode. EsPlaylist is old, so scrollbar is still in Light Mode.

^ Yes, luckily scrollbar can be switched off in EsPlaylist context menu. (Can use mouse wheel to scroll)

Library Tree (script for SMP) is another option for album art grid. Edit: Screenshot.

You guys are spot on, thanks. I've got the ESplaylist installed, could you walk me through how you got the album grid view?
Trying the library tree script in the mean time.

Ok just tried the Spider monkey script, looks good but my library selection as seen in this picture is a root folder with multiple folders inside yet the spider monkey panel is just showing the root folder and not the folders inside it. I cannot double click or open the root in the album art view either. Any ideas?

Thanks.

is there anything for 64 bit foobar for grid album view in playlists?
...does anyone know how to install 32-bit plugins in 64-bit foobar? or is it impossible?

Yes. JScript Panel works perfectly in FB2K V2-64 Bit (DUI or CUI). Pop a JScript panel it into your layout, and select Smooth Browser (by Br3tt / Falstaff) from the Configure menu in the Samples tab. It's built for a grid view, but unlike the JS Playlist script, you can only display front cover artwork. Settings can be tweaked from the Properties menu, but the default looks pretty much like this.
Neither an audiophile, nor album snob. Why do ratings threads always have a poster saying 'I don't believe in rating music'?

^A few observations...

-Smooth Browser is for your entire Library, not playlist which was asked for.
-You could install FontAwesome to get proper icons (check download page you linked to)
-You change settings by right clicking the header area or scrollbar. You shouldn't be using the Properties window.

More details for anyone not familiar here: https://jscript-panel.github.io/gallery/smooth-browser/

@qqka08 Just tried it with foobar 2.0 64bit version. (both with DUI and CUI)

It's working... here's how it's supposed to look. (windows 10 pro)

If you add a panel and it's completely black with no text, you should check the foobar2000 console (View menu>Console) and see if it says something like

Code: [Select]
Critical graphics initialisation failure.

If this is the case, it probably means you're running an unpatched windows 7 setup. It requires at least the following updates

Service Pack 1 (which is a prerequisite for the Platform update below)
Windows 7 Platform Update https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=36805
IE9 (should be on IE11 if you update everything)

this update is installed. in console doesn't have any graphics failures but jscript panel is still black and completely blank

foobar is also now kinda lagging when i installed this component. it launch slower than before(it used to be instant but now it takes about a minute or more), and in some cases i got "program is not responding" when i close foobar.

I would keep a backup... remove panel per panel... see if at some point it get better.... Also compare to a fresh foobar install...
if you think you figured out something from your layout... rebuild it form the fresh install just to double check it happen again.

Nothing you're saying makes any sense.

If the panel is black, there must be a console error??
If the panel is black, no script is executed so it's impossible for there to be any startup/shutdown issues.

Maybe it just hates you or your pc. Remove it, move on.

edit: I suppose it's theoretically possible that a script can execute before any kind of graphics error is encountered turning the panel black but this does seem very unlikely. But there should be console messages featuring this component name regardless of what happens. On success, script init time is displayed. On failure, more detailed messages are output. There must be something.

That's curious and new to me. Since the script can be seen to have initialised, it means the minimum requirements have been met. But something else is then causing it to fail without errors. I think it's unlikely I can help with this. You'll probably have to remove it as mentioned above.,

Just one question. Did it display the plain text with component name/version before you attempted to load that script. I'm just wondering what is failing first. The text rendering or is just images which that script uses.

Yeah, I'm going to have to admit defeat.

I fired up a windows 7 virtual machine I have for testing and it has the bare minimum of updates installed just enough to run this component and it's still fine with the latest versions. I'd not tested windows 7 classic theme before so I checked that to make sure,,,

The square is expected in the text - windows 7 can't display the emoji that is visible on win10+.
