Look like WMP

New frustrated user.  Not just to FOOBAR, but to the overall music server/streaming game.  Until a year ago, I was CDs only.

I built a Windows touch screen media sever. Ripped my collection with EAC into FLAC files. Testing a dozen or so free and paid player apps.  Foobar looks the most configurable and has the most recommendations. I have been using Windows Media Player 10, as the basic UI is what I want. Skins come up in a big screen, I just drag albums to the right for a temporary play list.   Very intuitive to use.  I am not a 20-something who will spend 10 minutes fooling with a phone to play one song. I do not want to make permanent play lists as I play what I am inspired when I look at the screen.

OK, Bought a new Topping D30pro DAC which can support WASAPI, ASIO, DSD and whatever. Back to FOOBAR. Loading the plugins today. ( My Schiit does not do all that stuff)  Even through the Windows audio stack, I can hear tiny differences in the background. Nice DAC.  I am about music, so quality matters. I do not think the Host player is as clean as my old Rotel into the Schiit. So, my desire to go WASAPI.

Is there a plugin to make the UI work like WMP?

And to get EQ APO/Peace to work, do I then have to install a routing program like Voicemeter.  Not sure the FOOBAR EQ plug in has the necessary resolution. I use APO as a parametric for the "Walker curve" and a few small lower hic-ups.

I do not know for sure even if all this is worth the trouble. One source said post Vista/7, the WAE was no longer a problem.  Lots of feedback, contradictory answers.  SACD died and it looks like DSD may too thanks to Sony's insane greed. Not paying $45 for a CD I can't even store on my server.

Is there anyone an expert in this thing in the Piedmont wiling to give an old guy a lesson  and enjoy a nice Highland Ale. All I find is a basic " lick to load" kind of video or the assumption you have been using all this technology from day one.

My advice, stick with Foobar2000, add one feature at a time. Do not limit yourself to WMP's UI.

Here's a few examples of my Foobar Default User Interface ~ https://audio-file.org/2015/10/31/current-foobar-interfaces-dui-default-user-interface/

WASAPI ~ https://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_out_wasapi

There's also Foobar's smaller version player Boom ~ https://perkele.cc/software/boom

APO/Peacemaker are system wide but foobar has a DRC component ~ https://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_room_eq
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Ah, that's better. I thought it was a 1 octave.

Installed. So now the UI.
Does anyone have a version that looks like WMP?

foobar2000 has a UPnP/DLNA server component. Perhaps WMP can act as a controller?

I hope someone has a fix. I have the same question over on JRIver
I did get the Topping supplied ASIO driver , their ASIO, DSD and WASAPI components installed. A bit of digging and I got enough ASIO config to play.

Verified the 31 band eq is working.   Can't hear much difference as my desktop where I am testing is just some FE85's with cheap tweeters.  But I can't sit and configure where my music server is, so I test on my desk, than install on the server.

WMP is just so easy. Touch screen to drag skins over to play.  No keyboard, no mouse. An appliance.

So, I can drag something over to Library Viewer Selection.
I do no know how to "clear" the queue.  It is not clear if the menu for the selection acts on the queue, or the library.
When I add to it, it plays the first album song, then skips to the next album

Need the albums as skins, not a test list.  List for playing is OK.

How:
Left column that has the genre list
Center column with the cover art
And the third column the play list

I don't want a single cover or visualizations down below.   In other words, look like WMP.

You can use Layout Editing Mode to create any design you like and add components and UI elements. You add Splitters first to divide up the area, then add any elements - library viewer, playlist, etc. Here is a quick video to demonstrate.

View menu > Layout > 'Enable Layout Editing Mode' to switch on/off layout editing for the main window. Or select the 'Create Scratchbox' option to start from scratch and create a new layout. Using both you can copy/paste elements back and forth.

Looks like I need to add components to do this. I have no "layout popup module"
I have not seen what will give the cover art with the album

OK, Installed Columns UI 1.7.0 and pop-up. That gets me to about the 5 second mark.
The video is by someone who knows what they are doing. Tough on a first timer.

Columns UI uses an entirely different interface which is generally more advanced and difficult to learn for beginners. Completely different from Default UI  - they are mutually exclusive - you can only use one or the other, and components only work on one or the other, if not both.

I suggest sticking with Default UI until you get the basics figured out. You can switch back in Preferences > Display, under the heading User Interface Module. Then the video would apply. And much easier to use layout editing...

The pop up component that is shown in the video said it required the columns component.  But , yes, even more confusing.

Below is a layout using Columns UI.  It's not exactly what you want, but it's functionally close.  You can experiment with it and customize as you like.  If you're interested, I'll zip up the files and put them somewhere you can download.

Here is a guide on how you transfer these settings to your PC:

Here is closer to what I want.  I want the room for selections, not complicated small print.  Touch screen, fat fingers.

Well, that did not work.   My screen caprutes are not on some WEB server.  I tried just entering the path, and it did not post.

Anyway, like WMP.
