Suggestion of sorts I guess (ASIO priority mode)

Hi all,
Im not sure ppl use ASIO nowdays or not, but for my case it works about best even in Win 10. Except it has small issue.

That issue is "process priority". If you dont know, you can set it to higher in F2K, which would be fine, unless you are using Win 10, then its not fine cause "high" isnt actually high enough, if you want to have playback without being disturbed by whatever your CPU decides crunch, you need to put it on "realtime".

Problem is that while you can do it manually, it resets every time you need to pause and play song. Also somehow high priority is retained even if you disabled it in F2K. Like you disable it and ASIO still gets high priority anyway.

What I would very much like is to be able to set it realtime (much like its possible to set it to high). Any way to either make it part of that plugin or just way to do it by myself?

Btw. external software doesnt work on this, I used quite a few pieces of SW that can change semi-permanently thread priority and they all far short in this case. Only Foobar is somehow able to make it at least high priority.

Thanks for reading, if any.

Yes, that is an issue that's been requested several times here. In the meantime the good people of the community have devised some workarounds.
There's neograniceni's tool that keeps ASIO process priority at realtime

And there's modified foo_out_asio.dll (kudos to j7n) that sets realtime insead of high (but requires running Foobar as admin)

Thanks for that "need to run as admin", j7n actually sent me that modded version directly in PM! But didnt mention need for admin rights.

Works as charm. Still would kinda prefer it to be native solution, but so what.. at least it works as I want it. :)

Thank you for help!

Unsure, but didnt have any issues before Win 10. So I think its more related towards how they changed sound processing in it.

I think it's the process priority handling that was changed that affected ASIO playback.
