[BUG] FB2k and/or FB2k-Installer is deleting active playlist on upgrade

Peter,
I just noticed when I upgraded from v1.4.0_Beta21 to v1.4.0 release..
my active playlist was removed/deleted..  lol luckily I make regular backups!

so is it a bug in Foobar2000 not shutting down properly when the shutdown was called by the installer during an update?

I may have had a track paused.. when the update occurred.. so it didn't save that active playlist on shutdown...

Sorry to hear that what i usually do for major version jumps is completely uninstall with somthing like Revo uninstaller on advanced acan
https://ninite.com/revo/
then manually download the latest exe
https://www.foobar2000.org/download
and all my components

may seem drastic but i do find it solves a alot of issues besides upgrades of any software are buggy a clean install is always best if you have the time

Was it a new playlist that hadn't previously been saved? If the old instance somehow crashed that could explain the loss of your playlist. The installer will only nicely ask the player to close with its /quit parameter. If after 30 seconds it hasn't closed it will ask whether to keep retrying or to cancel the install.

@MJmusicguy - you are wasting a lot of time. foobar2000 is designed to be updateable by just installing a new version over the old one. If there are some actions required like cleaning up old versions of the files, the installer does them. Also updating is meant to be easy. The installer has a single button update option that reuses previous settings without asking any questions.

no, I haven't created any new playlists in a while...
it was just the active playlist.. maybe with a track paused...
