I don't think anyone here uses Music Match.  This is more for discussion of encoders and high end software.

Probably 99% of the people on this forum consider MusicMatch to be as bad, if not worse, then Windows Media Player.

I assume you download a lot of music files off the internet, then?
If you had bought your own CDs, it won't be that hard to input all the relevant audio fields during ripping, encoding, and tagging.

Sld, have you never downloaded a hard to get hold of song, or possibly a single track from an album that you didn't want to buy on the strength of one song?

Maybe you are a millionaire and you buy thousands of crap cd's every week. Either way, you should not attack others for not buying every track they possess from a shop...

Also, when you are transfering a large number of cd's (that you own) to MP3, yes, it is hard and time consuming to do it manually. CD lookup is far easier thanks

Maybe there's something I didn't get.
Don't EAC, Cdex and most rippers use freedb (or such) database to input the audio fields? What else is needed?

I was refering to sld's post:

" I assume you download a lot of music files off the internet, then?

Clearly, implying that one should input details manually. Personally, I use EAC or CDex.

Good options, IMO.  Or, if you don't mind using a seperate tool (and perhaps need more than the basic functionality for tagging found in rippers) then there are other products which also offer automated tag info lookup such as Tagger, Helium2 and Tag&Rename.  The latter is my favorite...it's not freeware, but well worth the registration fee if you need most of its functionality and like its interface.  In my particular case, I need to write ID3v2 tags to FLAC files...many tagging programs can't do that, but Tag&Rename works perfectly for me.

Of course I have, but not so many that I actually need some automated process to tag them.

Erm no, I am not a millionaire, and I don't buy rock or pop.

I subject my encoding process to a stringent routine, and I don't want a spelling mistake from freedb to spoil it. Anyway, the time-consuming part of that process comes from the ripping and not the manual input.

MusicMatch is like the population of America, it just keeps getting fatter and fatter.

MM is a program I would recommend for my yaya (thats greek for grandma), I'm really ashamed my sister has it installed on her computer and the fact that she uses it. It has a nice frontend and all, but thats about the only posistive thing I can say about it. If that program was recoded from the ground up it would be a good program but its kind of like Windows, they just keep throughing on new code and never get rid of the old stuff.
