Click to expand artist/album titles in playlist

The title says it all - is there an add on that makes this work for the latest version of foobar? It's tiresome scrolling through thousands of songs.

Also I'd like to be able to share album recommendations this way (can you copy and paste an album list to an email?).

You mean, collapse albums and then click to expand them?
I do not know whether that can be done by playlist, but it can be done in Album List view.

You could experiment with using an instance of Facets set to use the playlist as it's data source. From Documentation.
Quote
Displaying contents of the current playlist
Instead of the media library, Facets can also be set to watch the active playlist via the source toolbar. Selection and focus changes are applied to the current playlist.

I never used it, so take it with a grain of salt, but I think ELPlaylist might allow you to do that, although it requires some scripting.
ESPlaylist (mind the "S" in place of the "L") also does something similar in layered view.

Exactly. But album view shows all albums obviously.

Is there any way at all to avoid having to scroll song by song through a playlist and be able to go album by album? All of my music (nearly 1000 albums) is bought album by album which makes it tedious to navigate foobars playlists

Did you check the components I suggested in my previous post?

P.S.
Take a look at the attached screenshot. It looks like a library browser, but it is actually one of the ESPlaylist views.

That looks cool. I haven't tried those because I'm a foobar novice and scripting sounds daunting.

foo_plorg seems to be what I want but doesn't work with the latest version apparently.

Fair enough, even though if you get into foobar2000, sooner or later you'll be scripting like there's no tomorrow ;).
ELPlaylist does require scripting, but ESPlaylist (the one you see in my screenshot) doesn't. You should try the layered view mode. You can group tracks by any title format expression you like and double click on each group to see the tracks (or the nested group if you go for multiple grouping levels).

Foo_plorg is not a playlist viewer (that is a component for viewing the content of a single playlist), but a playlist manager (that is a component for viewing and managing all of your playlists).
