xfburn overburning cds?

i read about xfburn being capable to overburn media, but whenever i try to overburn cds, xfburn (0.5.4 + libburn 1.4.6) complains about not having enough free space on disk?

i made sure to select the correct disksize before actually burning to disk, but neither 80:xx min for a 700mb disk, nor 90:xx min for a 800mb disk is working for me.

(with 700mb, the button to proceed is even greyed out.)

so, has anyone ever succeeded in overburning cds with this linux tool?

what's the exact duration of audio that you tried to write?

i max managed to overwrite up to 91:05min (on windows) with my drive.

with xfburn (linux now), even 90:01min seems to be too much?

p.s.: burning below 80/90 min works, of course.

yes, imgburn is great, but as you already mentioned, it is not a native tool. also, overburning cds should be easily possible with linux software as well... ;)

xfburn uses libburn as the recording backend and is basically just a frontend to it, so either the frontend or libburn fails to overburn correctly?

as there is a variety of front and backends, maybe asking for a combination that succeeds in overburning is the better way to go?

i dont care so much for visuals, as long as the tool is native and simply works...

it would be great, if you linux girls and boys have some hints in this matter.

p.s.: i stumbled upon bashburn, which is a tui (terminal based) frontend to cdrdao and cdrecord (backends). i really like the 'linux look' to it, also it is VERY leightweight, which is another plus for me.

the problem is, i could not manage to get it recognize my dvd drive yet?

anyone who knows about this program and had success in overburning media with it (and its backends)?

Usually I end up running k3b (i know), but never tried over-burning.

overburning with bashburn works  8)

the cd (almost 91min) plays just fine, but a warning occured in the process:

Code: [Select]
cdrecord: WARNING: Drive returns wrong startsec (0) using -150
Writing pregap for track 1 at -150

i already tried to find out about this message, but did not find a solution to it.

can anybody tell me more about it (maybe i need to change some settings)?
