"Win32Error" in Winamp has me beat ..

Hi everyone,

I have recently replaced my CD-ROM (IDE) drive with a Plextor Ultraplex 40 Max (SCSI). It reads data files perfectly, but my problem is that it does not play back audio files via WinAmp (V2.78). However, it does play back audio files with other playerS e.g. Windows Media Player(WMP).

If I try to play an audio file with WinAmp, the following error message is flagged and the file won't play:

"Win32Error: 0x45D (The request could not be performed because of an I/O error)"

Can you help me out with this problem, please? Visits to other forums did not shed any light on this problem yet.

I have disabled the CD digital playback option in the windows device manager. Also installed the latest ASPI drivers and CDReader. My OS is Windows XP and the SCSI card is an Adaptec AIC-7850-PCI SCSI Controller.

Thanks,

Do you mean that you can't play audio cds with Winamp? If so, check what device CDReader plugin is using for reading. It may still be configured to use your old drive and that would cause error.

Thanks, everyone, I've got it beat now. Problem was with the new V4.70 ASPI drivers from Adaptec which did not install correctly.
