replaygain grinding my floppy drive

this is very annoying...

I am running replaygain on a recently MPC encoded album. I'm using the MPC batch encoder. Whenever the file changes, it grinds my floppy drive, as if it is trying to access something there. As far as I can tell, everything is working fine, its just that mysterious grinding. Does anyone know how to fix this?
