How to make Foobar behave like Windows Explorer

Recently made a fresh install for Win 10 and forgot how to make Foobar behave like before.

Now, I have a left en right panel. See screenshot. But when I click left, nothing happens, I need to double click, but then the track of what I selected immediately start to play, and that's not what I want. I want it like this: [screenshot]. So when I click in left panel, i want to see the contents of the album, but also the rest of the albums, as you can seen in second screenshot.

Sorry if this is a bit of a chaotic discription, I hope you guys know what I mean

PS. Of course, when I click + on left panel, I can see contents too, but I want it on the right

You can set the middle click and double click actions to whatever you want.

If you want to change what happens when you single left-click, you probably want to enable the "Library selection viewer playlist" in Preference->Media Library

This helped! Partly, because on the right side i see only the album i selected, but i want to see also the rest of the albums.

Look, when i click on an album on left pane, it only shows this album on right pane. So the same album keeps on playing. This is why i installed a folder player

Well, that's exactly what it does. But, how is that different than explorer?

Let's go back here:
So when I click in left panel, i want to see the contents of the album, but also the rest of the albums
So click "All Music" at the top to do exactly that? The "right pane" is a playlist of tracks and only ever that. That means it's never going to show folders in it like Explorer's right pane does. What it will show is all the contents of all the folders if you select the root.

When you enable the Library viewer selection playlist, you're showing the contents of your selection from the Media Library viewer (i.e. your left pane) in the playlist (i.e. your right pane). So if you want to see more albums, you have to select more nodes of albums (e.g. Crtl+Click or Shift+click)

foo_uie_graphical_browser works the way you're describing (if I understand you correctly). It requires ColumnsUI and is no longer being developed, but still works fine with current versions of foobar2000.

Well, i dont know how, but previously, when i selected an artist in left pane, on right pane all albums of this artist appeard (of course), but i could also scroll to all other artists. This isnt actually exactly like Explorer..my bad. But i loved it.

Of course when i click "All music" the same happens. But i liked it the way it was much better..less clicking and scrolling

Sounds like previously your View in the Album List was set to the default "by Artist". Accoring to your screen shot in the first post it is now set to "by Folder structure". You can change the view using the drop down control at the bottom of the Album List.

Greyed out usually just means that it is installed to the foobar2000 installation folder instead of your user profile - it should still be functional.
As I mentioned before, you need to be using ColumnsUI as your UI module. Panels can be added in the ColumnsUI preferences ('Layout' tab).

I posted this back in August of 2013. I just installed foobar and these two plugins and made it work in less than 5 minutes. VERY well worth the time and effort in my opinion! I wished this was a "standard basic" view that was built into foobar. I think there would be many more people using it.

This is excellent for people who have a lot of music organized by directory on their computer.

*** any updates to this step by step would be appreciated!***

Hopefully a useful installation guide to get "explorer view" or "directory view" of your mp3 collection in foobar
works on windows 7 and windows 8
foobar2000 v1.3 Dec 2013

first install Columns UI
direct link, probably best to go to the page and download the most recent version:
direct link as of august 2013
http://yuo.be/download/5108E9B7-356E-4561-...umns-0.3.8.8.7z

Columns UI
http://yuo.be/columns.php

COPY THE extracted .dll file to
C:\Program Files (x86)\foobar2000\components

second install
http://ku.myftp.org/goods/foo_uie_explorer_2.04.8.7z
I think it's called UIE explorer

Here is the link that might have a more updated version. V 2.04.8 is what I have working.
https://www.hydrogenaud.io/forums/index.php?showtopic=34207
anyways...
again copy the extracted file foo_uie_explorer.dll to the directory
C:\Program Files (x86)\foobar2000\components

confirm that you have these two files:
foo_ui_columns.dll
foo_uie_explorer.dll
in the "components" directory

restart / start foobar2000

>VIEW > LAYOUT > LIVE EDITING (ON)
right click on everything and select "CLOSE"
You should end up with a very empty looking screen with no panels, except maybe the top and bottom.

Right Click in the big open area
>ADD PANEL > PANELS >"EXPLORER TREE"
<this will only be available if you have the two .dll files in the components directory and they are working...

>ADD PANEL > SPLITTERS > HORIZONTAL SPLITTER
<this will add a vertical bar

in the greyed out area, hopefully on the right hand side... right click
ADD PANEL > PLAYLIST VIEWS > COLUMNS PLAYLIST

A few last customizations which saves time...
>FILE >PREFERENCES *DISPLAY *Columns UI extensions *Explorer Tree Panel >DISPLAY
(SELECT) Select the latest selected path.
then... select the >FAVORITES tab
ADD the folder where all your mp3's are.
+ also make sure the BEHAVIOR is set for...
Show favorites as roots in the tree.

What the above will do is...
automatically open your mp3 folder (expanded) and NOT show any of the other directories from your computer

I really wished that foobar2000 did this by itself or that the steps weren't as convoluted... ohwell.
