How to automatically download covers and show them while playing?

How can foobar automatically download covers (and / or information about the bands, interprets etc.) of ones music collection (the folders added to "Music folders") and show these covers, information etc. while playing the albums / titles?

Try the biography view component.

There are also some WSH panel mod scripts floating around that can retrieve similar information, but those might need some adjusting and don't know where they are hosted if they are officially hosted anywhere at all currently.

There is also this thing:

Thank you, Daeron,

Hmmm, well...that biography component surrounded by strange signs last updated or released in 2010...may be...better leave it there.

Yes, that Album Art Downloader works well, I have used it some times.

So, I guess this means foobar itself cannot automatically download / scrape images / covers / information.

Thank you very much again.

I seem to remember the biography view component did download album art fine via Last.fm (never could get a an external script running on it). However those are only last.fm covers which aren't the always the greatest of quality (usually 300x300px to 400x400px), isn't available for every album and your album tag needs to correspond exactly to the last.fm album name.

Yes, the tags...Album Art Download uses both the folder names and tags...I suppose at least, not sure. May be I should just try this biography component.

Although there are images in some or many folders containing a single album each one foobar does not show the cover of the album while playing it.

if you have images that are not showing, check file>preferences>display>album art>front. foobar will display pretty much anything if you tell it to. you can even use wildcards like *.* to display the first image it encounters regardless of the name.
