Audio filters, decoders, etc within games?

Hey, I know in the past ffdshow had a blacklist of morrowind.exe, oblivion.exe, etc to avoid it being used in games. But I'm wondering if ffdshow or something similar could be used with games now. I just have a Core i3 3rd gen/HD4000 laptop with all integrated hardware. I think the sound is RealTek. Not many options in the sound panel that's just called DTS Sound. It also sometimes has a clicking noise like it's clipping or lagging, so I'm wondering if there is any way to improve the sound processing somehow. Kinda random topic but figured if anyone knew, you guys would.
