Foobar Hiccups when Display Turns Off

Foobar 1.28

Components:
WASAPI 3.2.3
SACD Decoder 0.6.4

My Windows 7 (x64) laptop's power options are set to turn off the display after 5 minutes of inactivity.

Problem:

When I use WASAPI Event or Direct Sound as output in Foobar, there's a "hiccup" in music play when my display turns off, and then it continues playing flawlessly.

When I use WASAPI Push in Foobar as output or Media Player Classic Home Cinema, the "hiccup" does not occur when my display turns off.

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Btw, it doesn't seem to matter what I'm playing ie. mp3, m4a or FLAC. I think its 'output' dependent.
Also, I'm just using the onboard IDT audio, and multimedia speakers plugged into the 3.5mm audio out.

There's no real reason to use Wasapi for listening purposes. Having such low latency, the sound can easily click when the PC is under load. You should use the standard ouptup and play with the buffer. Laptop soundcards are on-board, which can sometimes catch the electrical noise from the mother board. You might have a defective soundcard/driver. Is Foobar the only player that have problems with the sound ?

Well, it happens (the hiccup) when I use Direct Sound which is the "standard" output?

Media Player Classic Home Cinema, the only other player I use, does not exhibit this hiccup-ing problem.
Perhaps, there's a driver that causes latency to go up when my display shuts off but I am not sure how to pinpoint which one is causing the problem or how to fix it.

I had the same problem on two laptops, but assumed it was not only foobar that had it. For me the DPC latency was caused by the ACPI driver on one laptop, and the display driver on the other. IF it's a foobar-specific issue, then I wonder what the other players are doing to avoid that.

But, how does one update a display or ACPI driver? None exists on the HP support site. My graphics card driver is up-to-date and so is my Windows installation.
